Answer: In the beginning when America was uniting and trying to form its official government the northern states and the southern states had already different greatly from each other. The North was industrializing and working on expanding west and the South was booming with farming and its famous cash crop. The North wanted to abolish slavery and the South did not. Since the North and South had so many differences and could not keep a steady compromise, heavy tensions arose between the North and the South which then caused the Southern states of America to decide to leave the American Union and create their own Southern Confederacy.
The American Civil War was arguably the most important war in the history of the country. The War of Independence may have allowed American to become its’ own country, but the Civil War resulted in something even more important than that, the end of slavery in the southern states. All of the issues that caused the Civil war were based around slavery, such as states’ rights that involved how slavery would be handled in each state, and trying to preserve the Union since the south seceded from the north due to their lust for slavery. The war ended up being the deadliest in the history of the country with over 700,000 people being killed as a result of battle or from diseases that were obtained during the war. The north was better prepared for the war than the south due to various reasons. One was the fact that the north was industrialized, while the south largely relied on agriculture. Being so heavily industrialized, the north was better equipped to fight the war since they could construct better guns, cannons or even ships to create blockades to prevent the south from getting help from other countries and not everyone in the south was supportive of the war.
how does this selection of declaration of independence define the purpose of government in America
Step 2: Write one paragraph discussing the motivations for and impact of imperialism on European nations. Use the information you learned in the lesson about the impact of colonization on European nations in your response.
Explanation:
The five main motives for imperialism include exploration, economic expansion, increased political power, the diffusion of ideological beliefs, and the spreading of religious beliefs and practices to others.
With imperialism European nations spread their influence across the globe. They brought European culture; language, religion, government and education systems to many different regions in the world.
In the late 1800's, economic, political and religious motives prompted European nations to expand their rule over other regions with the goal to make the empire bigger. The Industrial Revolution of the 1800's created a need for natural resources to fuel the newly invented machinery and transportation

B Level Question
Explain how the Dred Scott case increased tensions between the North and the South?
First, we must understand what the Dred Scott case was truly about.
The Dred Scott case (Dred Scott v. Sandford, 1856 - 1857) questioned the status of slavery, and whether or not individual rights (or non-rights) was placed over states rights or not. In the case of Dred Scott, his owner moved from Missouri (which allowed for slavery), to Illinois (a free state). Dred Scott, on arriving, sued for his freedom, stating that living in a free state allowed him to become a free man.
The Court decision appealed Dred Scott's case in multiple reasons, including the fact that since Dred Scott is not a citizen, he could not use the American judicial system. Also, slaves were ruled to be as property, not human, which protected slavery under the 5th Amendment, which states that "No person shall be.. compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of... property...".
Why is this important?
The case increased tensions between North and South states, as the North saw it as a infringement upon their territorial laws. After all, the state laws in the North typically banned slavery, but, and when, as in the case of Dred Scott, Southerners who moved to free states can void the state laws, it infringes upon the values of the people who voted the laws in place. Accordingly, slave catchers also started to roam the Northern states in hopes of catching runaways, which led to the North to be not as safe for slaves as before. This is one of the reasons why the Underground Railroad, which used to lead to Northern states, was then extended to British-controlled Canada, where slavery is outlawed.

For much of the First World War, the Western Front remained almost static, with each side killing many of the other’s men but otherwise making little progress. Dr Jonathan Boff investigates why the war developed in this way and whether later depictions of wartime strategy were fair.
The First World War is often perceived as a war of attrition, a conflict in which each side tried to wear the other down by killing as many of its men as possible. This article explores the tactical, strategic, and political realities of the war, the extent to which the war was indeed characterised by stalemate in the trenches and strategic deadlock, and why this characterisation exists in the popular imagination.
