(GIVING BRAINLYIST) Read the excerpt from Votes for Women:

At the Seneca Falls Convention in July 1848, women like Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton signed the Declaration of Sentiments, a document expressing their concerns about the role of women in the United States. For example, at the time married women could not own property, and the education and employment of women was limited. These women decided that to change the law, women needed to be able to vote. Some thought that peaceful methods were the best way for the Women's Suffrage Movement to obtain its goal, while others believed that a more aggressive strategy was necessary.

The peaceful approach in the Women's Suffrage Movement changed the United States over time. At first, there was resistance to the idea of women having the vote. Many believed that the practice of politics was masculine and men should vote on behalf of their wives and daughters. When African American men were granted the right to vote in the 15th Amendment, women of any race were not included. This decision discouraged many women, but they still organized themselves into groups, like the National American Woman Suffrage Association, in order to campaign for the vote. They argued that voting women would benefit society, and published newspaper articles and other literature about women's rights. From 1878 until 1920, the idea of women's suffrage was brought before Congress every year. In the meantime, women also campaigned for the vote in different states. During World War I, many women did jobs regularly done by men. Their contributions to the United States and the influence of Carrie Chapman Catt caused President Woodrow Wilson to finally support women's suffrage. The peaceful approach changed opinions over time and ultimately led to the 19th Amendment.

In the South after the Civil War, which of the following enforced segregation in public accommodations?
A) property taxes
B) Jim Crow laws
C) county unit rules
D) grandfather clauses

Answers

B) jim crow laws i’m pretty sure

Answer:

B) Jim Crow laws

Explanation:

The first steps toward official segregation came in the form of “Black Codes.” These were laws passed throughout the South starting around 1865, that dictated most aspects of Black peoples’ lives, including where they could work and live. The codes also ensured Black people’s availability for cheap labor after slavery was abolished. Segregation soon became an official policy enforced by a series of Southern laws. Through so-called Jim Crow laws (named after a derogatory term for Black people), legislators segregated everything from schools to residential areas to public parks to theaters to pools to cemeteries, asylums, jails, and residential homes. There were separate waiting rooms for white people and Black people in professional offices and, in 1915, Oklahoma became the first state to even segregate public phone booths.

Answer:

Mesoamerica and Mesopatiomia

Explanation:

In Mesopotamia, their civilization was one of the first in the world. As such the early Mayan civilizations could have been influenced by them. The reason for this is that before the world split up from one whole continent to multiple all people lived in the same place before some walked over a land bridge to North and South America and Australia.

For the Mayans, they were descendants from the Olmecs as such at first the Olmecs had influence from Mesopotamia due to an exchange of information before Olmecs ancestors left from Asia to Mesoamerica, as such some of the comparisons to Mesopotamia and Mesoamerica are the same such as they both had irrigation. Also, their temples were very advanced for that day and age, and the lack of resources that the Europeans had.

Courts cracking down on students skipping school -- Excerpt from the Arizona Republic
The excuses for missing dozens of days of school this year ranged from insomnia to asthma to not liking the "drama" in high-school hallways.

But Judge Dan Dodge wasn't having any of it at a new special hearing he holds for truants and their parents once a month.

"Chronic truancy is a criminal offense. Do you want to start out your life with a criminal record?" Dodge said as he stared down from the bench at Gilbert's Highland Justice Court at a sleepy-eyed 15-year-old Dobson High School student.

The freshman said he has missed dozens of days of school this year because he usually struggles to fall asleep until 3 a.m. He then has trouble getting up for his 8 a.m. class. And Mom, typically asleep herself at the hour school starts, is no help, the student said.

"I don't really care about school," he had said before walking into the courtroom. "I would rather stay up late and play music."

Dodge was unsympathetic, saying the problem could easy be solved with fewer late-night jam sessions and a louder morning alarm clock. Or maybe Mom should just pour a glass of water on his head every morning at 6 a.m., the judge said.

Dodge told the young insomniac to have no more unexcused absences this year or he could lose his right to apply for an Arizona driver's license until he turns 18.

Potential prosecution

On a recent afternoon, Dodge looked around a courtroom full of accused truants, their parents and their guardians and told everyone to shape up or face prosecution by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.

Parents in the room eyed each other with chagrin as Dodge told them that they, along with their teens, could face Class 3 misdemeanor charges -- meaning fines and possible jail sentences -- if they did not get their kids to school on time or make arrangements for them to study at home because of chronic illnesses.

"And if you want to drop out and ruin your life at age 16, that is your prerogative. But before that, it is not your privilege," Dodge told the students, who are not identified because The Arizona Republic typically does not print the names of juveniles accused of crimes.

Dodge ordered the kids and parents to return to his courtroom in March with report cards and attendance records. If things have improved by then, charges will be dropped.
